I am working to qualify for matching public funds under the Baltimore City Fair Election Fund. This program provides matching funds for eligible candidates who agree to limit the amount they accept from any individual donor and refuse all contributions from corporations and political action committees. Donors to my campaign are limited to contributing $150. This is good because I believe that people shouldn't be able to unduly influence elections because they have a lot of money. But, this means that every individual contribution is crucial to winning matching funds.

The program requires that I receive a contribution (of ANY size, even just $1) from at least 500 Baltimore residents, totaling at least $40,000. No individual may contribute more than $150.

If 250 individuals contribute the maximum amount of $150, that’s $37,500. I then need 250 donors to contribute $10 each, to cover the additional $2,500 required.
